APPT gathers all the ads on the official website of the different advertising agencies. The advantage of APPT is that you will not miss any ad from the agencies. On the other hand, the private ads are not present.
APPT - Tutorial
1. Go to the APPT portal and click on the "Recherche avancée" button.
2. Fill in the following fields and click on the "Envoyer" button.
A. Rent min (ex. 1500)
B. Rent max (ex. 2500)
C. Number of rooms min (ex. 3 if you want 1 living room + 1 bedroom)
D. Number of rooms max (ex. 4 if you want 1 living room + 2 bedrooms)
E. Neighborhood (ex. 1201 for Geneva-Centre or 1207 for Eaux-Vives)
F. Distance (10km is recommended)
3. Click on the rent button to view the ad you think is appropriate.

Best search portals #2 : Immoscout24
Immoscout24 is in our opinion one of the best portals in terms of quantity and quality of ads for apartments for rent. Immoscout24 contains not only the advertisements of the rental companies but also the advertisements published by private persons. SwissPlatz recommends you to consult this portal in parallel with the APPT portal.
Immoscout24 - Tutorial
1. Go to the Immoscout24 portal and fill in the following fields and click on the "Show (number) properties" button.
A. Where? (ex. 1201 for Geneva-Centre or 1207 for Eaux-Vives)
B. Distance (10km is recommended)
C. What? (ex. Flat)
D. Rent (max) (ex. 2000)
E. Rooms (min) (ex. 3 if you want 1 living room + 1 bedroom)
IMPORTANT : Press the "Sorting" button and select "Most recent ads" to avoid viewing expired ads.

Homegate is a portal similar to Immoscout24. You will probably notice that some ads can be found on both portals. However, SwissPlatz recommends this portal because you might find ads that aren't listed anywhere else.

A. Cities, regions, ZIP, country (ex. 1201 for Geneva-Centre or 1207 for Eaux-Vives)
B. Distance (10km is recommended)
C. Type (ex. Apartment)
D. Rent (min & max) (ex. min. 1500 & max. 2500)
E. Rooms (min & max) (ex. min. 3 if you want 1 living room + 1 bedrooms & max. 4 for 1 living room + 2 bedrooms)
IMPORTANT : Press the "Sort by" button and select "Newest first" to avoid viewing expired ads.

Comparis is a portal which gathers for you the advertisements of various existing portals in Switzerland. According to our experiences, the ads are not exhaustive and some ads are not necessarily up to date. SwissPlatz recommends you this portal because you can create an alert which will allow you to receive the recent advertisements of various portals, and this, according to your preference.
Comparis - Tutorial
1. Go to the Comparis portal and fill in the following fields and click on the "(number) listings" button.
A. Town or postcode (ex. 1201 for Geneva-Centre or 1207 for Eaux-Vives)
B. Property Type (ex. Apartment)
C. Rent max. (ex. 2500)
D. Rooms min. (ex. 3 if you want 1 living room + 1 bedroom)
IMPORTANT #1 : Press the "Sort by" button and select "Listing first found on" to avoid viewing expired listings.
IMPORTANT #2 : Press the "Within a radius of" button and select "10 km" to be able to view all the listings. It seems to us that this is a Comparis bug.
IMPORTANT #3 : Press the "Save as search alert" button to receive the alert by email in case of appearance of ads according to your search criteria.

3. Click on the link in the "Contact information on" section to be redirected to the advertisement for the selected apartment. Here you will find all essential information about the apartment, such as contact information, description of the object and how to visit it. The latter depends on the object. It is advisable to contact the real estate agency if necessary.
As you have probably noticed, Comparis only links you to the original ad.
Best search portals #5 : Facebook
In Geneva, in addition to real estate websites, ads can also be found on social networks. The main portal is Facebook. Different groups exist and their members publish the announcements related to their apartments that they plan to vacate.
Below are the list of some groups that are active on Facebook. Click on the group name to access it.
Often, a private message will be required to obtain the necessary information such as date and time of visit, availability and rental conditions. Visit these groups regularly. This is the only way to find the right apartment for you. You need to be there at the right time.
If you are lucky, you might be at the top of the list of applicants. However, that doesn't mean you are necessarily chosen. As an example, there have been times when the next tenant chosen was not the candidate recommended by us. This is because the landlord is free to choose the next tenant.
